GUD Malta has appointed Professor Joseph Falzon as a member of its global Board of Directors.

"Professor Falzon's expertise in finance and economics, combined with his passion for our mission, will significantly contribute to our efforts to tackle the challenges of the just climate transition and our pursuit of creating sustainable innovation communities.”
Professor Joseph Falzon is the former Head of the Department of Banking and Finance and the former Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Management, and Accountancy at the University of Malta. He holds a Ph.D. degree in economics from Northwestern University, USA, and is the author of several foreign publications and numerous papers on the Maltese economy.
He has served as a consultant to various leading organisations and financial institutions in Malta, including the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Services, the Economic Policy Division, the Malta Tourism Authority, the Bank of Valletta, the Central Bank of Malta, the Office of Fair Competition, the Housing Authority, the GRTU, and the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD). Additionally, he has held board positions at the National Tourist Organization, Enemalta, and the Malta Statistics Authority.
Professor Falzon has been nominated as a board member for several financial companies and serves on the investment committees of numerous funds. He also acts as a risk manager and portfolio manager for other investment firms.
His research interests include hedge fund strategies, portfolio management, and economic development. He has served on the Executive Committee of the European Association of University Lecturers in Banking and Finance and currently holds the position of Deputy Chairman of the Malta Stock Exchange.
